NARRA Cooperative launches plan for first Filipino-Australian Cultural Centre

A new initiative has been launched to establish what could become Australia’s first major Filipino-Australian cultural and innovation centre.

The NARRA Cooperative Ltd, a not-for-profit, member-driven organisation that has supported community arts and empowerment since 2013, has announced PAACI: Project 500—a long-term plan to build a landmark hub celebrating Filipino heritage, creativity, and innovation. With a target completion date of 2031, the project aims to create a permanent home for Filipino-Australian cultural expression.

The proposed centre will include a 500-seat theatre, rehearsal and gallery spaces, a Filipino fusion café, a Sari-Sari store and gift shop, multi-purpose commercial rooms, a community garden, and a playground. It builds on the ongoing success of ACI Central, a cultural hub in Campbelltown, NSW, which currently hosts workshops, exhibitions, and community gatherings.

“This isn’t just a building—it’s a home for identity, connection, and legacy,” said Marcus Rivera, President of NARRA Cooperative Ltd.

With more than 400,000 Filipino-Australians now calling Australia home, the cooperative believes the need for cultural representation has never been more urgent. The PAACI (Philippine-Australian Arts, Culture & Innovation) initiative also complements broader diversity and inclusion strategies being adopted across government and corporate sectors.

While the final site for the new centre is yet to be announced, ACI Central continues to serve as the community’s anchor for cultural engagement and programming.
