Foundation leverages Filipino diaspora to support STEM education and entrepreneurship in the Philippines
The PhilDev Foundation is expanding its cross-border approach to innovation, mobilizing Filipino-American communities to support underserved students and entrepreneurs in the Philippines through education, mentorship, and funding initiatives.
Founded by Silicon Valley pioneer Dado Banatao, PhilDev operates with dual presence in the US and Philippines, connecting diaspora resources with Philippine-based talent through partnerships with academic institutions, government agencies, and industry leaders.
New community series launches

PhilDev kicked off its community gathering series with “Be the Bridge” on March 28, 2025, in Palo Alto. The Women’s History Month event brought together Filipino STEM professionals for networking and leadership discussions led by Executive Coach Dolores Bernardo, featuring speakers including Discord Chief People Officer Emily Nishi.
Executive Director Olivia de Jesus emphasized the importance of community engagement in building long-term impact during the gathering. CEO Oliver Segovia of AVA Online Group introduced the Philippine AI Retreat (PAIR), an initiative supported by PhilDev that connects AI researchers and technologists working on challenges in the Philippines.
PhilDev also announced its co-presenting role at the US-Philippines AI Summit at Stanford University in June 2025, highlighting collaborations between Filipino and global innovators in the AI space.
Expanding impact
The foundation’s growing portfolio includes scholarship programs, technopreneurship training, and mentorship opportunities that leverage global tech professionals’ expertise for Philippine-based initiatives. PhilDev is actively recruiting diaspora members as mentors, champions, and donors for upcoming programs including YBLL and SHE++.
PhilDev continues to operate with a clear focus: building an inclusive, tech-enabled future by connecting global Filipinos with opportunities to give back and drive development in their homeland.
