Filipino comedian and television personality Gil Aducal Morales, popularly known as Ate Gay, has passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, his family announced.

“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved Aducal Morales, lovingly known to many as Ate Gay, on November 1, 2026. After bravely fighting for his life, while surrounded by his family, our beloved Ate Gay has peacefully passed away,” the family posted on his social media account.

“During this difficult time, our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who extended their prayers, love, financial assistance, and unwavering support throughout his battle. Your kindness and generosity have meant so much to our family,” they added.

Morales’ family asked for prayers “for his eternal repose and for strength and comfort for our grieving family.”

“Rest peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord, Ate Gay. You will forever remain in our hearts.”

The details regarding the wake and funeral arrangements will be announced soon.

His family ended their announcement, “With love and gratitude, The Family of Gil Aducal Morales.”

Morales was in critical condition after he suffered a stroke, the family said, and was rushed to the hospital for treatment on October 17, 2026.

In a statement posted on his Facebook on Friday, his family said Ate Gay was first rushed to the emergency room of Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC) due to difficulty breathing.

“According to his doctors, he suffered septic shock and acute respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia, or a severe infection that affected his breathing and blood circulation,” the family said.

He was subsequently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for intensive treatment and monitoring.

Based on the latest assessment of his attending physicians, Ate Gay has overcome the initial septic shock.

However, on October 29, Ate Gay suffered a stroke, which caused damage to the right side of his brain.

“At present, he still relies on life-support machines to support his body’s vital functions. His condition remains critical but guarded,” they added. — BAP, GMA News
