THE Philippine Embassy in Australia said a member of the Philippine Army received the Royal Military College-Duntroon Prize for most outstanding overall performance of a foreign speaking national military cadet. Staff Cadet Nathanjan Llasos received the prize which is awarded to a foreign national military cadet of the graduating class, “with English as a second or third language,” the embassy said.
The award is also given to “the highest-performing cadet in all areas of the curriculum and who has displayed selfless dedication and commitment to the Corps of Staff Cadets.” The embassy said that Llasos’ recognition “reflects the professionalism, dedication, and excellence of Filipino military personnel and underscores the importance of military education and training in strengthening the Philippines-Australia defense partnership.” Minister and Consul General Sheila Marie Tario congratulated Llasos on his outstanding achievement and successful completion of the rigorous RMC-Duntroon training program. The Royal Military College-Duntroon is the Australian Army’s officer training establishment. “The training of Philippine military personnel in Australia forms part of the extensive and long-standing defense and security cooperation between the Philippines and Australia,” the embassy said.
Tario and Col. Eduardo Castillo PA, Philippine defense and Armed Forces attaché to Australia, represented the embassy at the 151st Full Time Officer Commissioning Course Graduation Parade of the Royal Military College-Duntroon in Canberra on Aug. 25.
The parade was reviewed by Australian Defense Force Commander-in-Chief Sam Mostyn AC, who is also governor-general of the Commonwealth of Australia.
Mostyn congratulated the Australian and international graduates and highlighted the proud traditions of RMC-Duntroon and the values of service, courage, respect, integrity, and excellence expected of Australian Defense Force officers and leaders. She also recognized the international cadets graduating from the college, noting the friendships they had forged during their training in Australia.
