The Beaches Sandbox on Queen Street East will celebrate Filipino Independence Day with a number of events on the morning of Thursday, June 12.
Filipino food, arts and crafts and culture will be featured at the celebration taking place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend the family-friendly event which feature a playroom for tots and children, information from the Philippine Canadian Charity Foundation, and Filipino food from Scarborough restaurant Lakay Kusina. The food will be available from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The Philippine Canadian Charity Foundation is a non-profit umbrella organization composed of different leaders of various provincial, professional, cultural and social organizations and was created to assist community charitable needs.
Independence Day in the Philippines is held on June 12 to mark the country’s declaration of independence from Spain in 1898.
