The Filipino American Seniors Association (FASA) of Chino Hills celebrated a Flores De Mayo event on May 9 for the first time in its history. The parade at the Chino Hills Community Center included ladies carrying arches decorated with flowers and others carrying flower bouquets. The procession paused at the gazebo for a photo before returning to the Community Center. According to Digna Trinidad-Hickerson, participating in the festival helps Filipino-Americans connect with their cultural roots and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. “It creates a sense of community and belonging, while strengthening social bonds and fostering camaraderie among the Filipino-American community,” Mrs. Trinidad-Hickerson said.
