GCash has launched a Digital Tax Refund feature allowing Filipino travellers to receive tax refunds instantly in Philippine pesos through their GCash wallets. Powered by Alipay+ and Global Blue, the service is available in 16 countries including Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia.

Travellers can generate a QR code in the GCash app at airport tax refund counters after customs validation. The refund is immediately converted to pesos and credited to their wallet, eliminating traditional waiting periods of one to four weeks and avoiding currency conversion fees.

“We are giving Filipino travellers a faster and more convenient way to receive the money they are entitled to,” said Carlos Bauza, vice president for international payments at GCash International.
