From the streets of Cebu to the world’s biggest freestyle dance stage, Sam Rivera — better known in battles as Nemesis — is ready to raise the Philippine flag high at the Red Bull Dance Your Style 2025 World Finals, happening October 11–12 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California.
From local champion to global contender
Nemesis earned her ticket to LA after outshining the country’s best dancers at the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Finals in May. Now, she’s gearing up to showcase Filipino rhythm, raw energy, and freestyle mastery against more than 50 champions from across the globe.
The World Finals isn’t just a contest of choreography — it’s pure improvisation. Dancers battle one-on-one with no prepared routines, adapting instantly to surprise tracks. The twist? The audience decides who advances. It’s a high-stakes showdown where crowd connection matters as much as technical skill.
Nemesis’ training and mindset
After being a national finalist in 2024, Nemesis returned stronger this year, capturing the crown in Cebu with her signature Krump-infused style. Since then, she’s been sharpening her freestyle endurance, muscle memory, and stage presence.
“This year I’m really in it to win, but I also remind myself to have fun on stage,” Nemesis shared. “I don’t prepare sets — I just condition my body, drill movements, and let the music guide me.”
For her, the mental game is just as critical as the physical grind. “I know LA is where the best dancers are, so I take it as an opportunity to learn from them. My goal is to give a performance that makes people say, ‘Wow, this is what Filipino dancers can do.’”
Countdown to LA
The Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals is part of World Finals Week from October 7 to 11, culminating in the main competition on October 11. Fans can catch the action live on Red Bull TV at 9 PM (PDT) / October 12 at 12 NN (Philippine time).
With global champions, underground icons, and local heroes clashing in freestyle battles, the stage promises an explosive mix of creativity and cultural influence. In the end, only one will be crowned 2025 Red Bull Dance Your Style World Champion.
