Philippine Culture Takes Centerstage at the First Ever Filipinska Barrio Fiesta 2025 in Prague

PRAGUE 18 September 2025 — Around 3,000 members of Filipino communities from all over Czech Republic as well as Germany, Rome, Austria and Lithuania among others,  showed up in full force to celebrate the best of Philippine culture in Prague as the first ever Filipinska Barrio Fiesta 2025 (FBF 2025) was held at the scenic Hostivarska Prehrada in Prague on 13 September 2025. 

Organized by the FBF 2025 National Organizing Committee, the event celebrated the rich and diverse culture of the Philippines through music, dance, arts and crafts, games, and cuisine.  Cultural demonstrations and workshops of traditional Philippine sports such as Arnis, and the pre-colonial Philippine writing system Baybayin  also received significant attention from the mixed crowd, while traditional Philippine Parol and Kite making  garnered much interest from the younger generation. 

Seen enjoying the event were members of the local Czech communities and expats, including members of the Diplomatic Corps and representatives from different Czech Republic Ministries.  

For gastronomy, the Philippine Lechon proudly took centerstage as a group of Filipinos demonstrated how the Philippine lechon is traditionally roasted. Other gastronomical  offerings  from  the food stalls included Pinoy bbq; fishballs; banana cue; pancit; dinuguan, among others. 

Adding more significance to the event were the essential government services provided by the Embassy of the Philippines in Prague; the DMW through MWO Prague; OWWA; and the Social Security Services (SSS). END

The best of Philippine culture and diverse heritage was highlighted at the the Filipinska Barrio Fiesta held at the Hostivarska Prehrada on 13 September 2025 through dance such as the singkil, waray-waray, pamaypay, Igorot performances.

One of the many  highlights of the event are Pinoy food  favorites such as banana cue, Pinoy pork bbq and lechon.

The exhibit “Colors of Freedom” was also mounted, presenting  the history and evolution of the Philippine flag, the meaning of every color and emblem found in it, and its importance to the Filipino people.
