BARCELONA 10 June  2025 — The Young Voices of the Philippines (YVP) brought Filipino musical artistry to the Crypt of the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia on 04 June 2025, performing a thoughtful program of sacred and Filipino choral works. Their performance was met with a warm reception from an international audience. Mn. Josep Maria Turull, rector of the basilica, welcomed the ensemble along with its conductor, Dr. Maria Theresa Vizconde-Roldan, and resident composer-arranger Professor Jude Roldan. The event marked a meaningful highlight in YVP’s concert tour of Spain, reflecting their role as young ambassadors of Philippine culture and choral excellence.

Dr. Vizconde-Roldan emphasized that the group’s journey through Spain is not merely a concert tour, but an opportunity to engage in meaningful cultural and artistic exchange. “Our choral pilgrimage and exchanges offer a chance to reflect on the roots of our Filipino heritage, refine our craft through collaboration with leading Spanish choral programs, and participate in the celebration of Montserrat’s 1000th anniversary,” she noted. From the Abbey of Montserrat to the Sagrada Familia, the ensemble’s performances have reflected both musical discipline and deep cultural resonance.

As part of their ongoing engagements in Catalonia, YVP performed on 05 June 2025 at Capella de l’Esperança and paid a courtesy call to the Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona, where they offered a heartfelt tribute song to the Filipino community. Upcoming performances include a collaboration at the Monestir de Sant Cugat on 06 June 2025 and participation in Pentecost Sunday services on 08 June 2025 at the Parroquia Inmaculada Concepción y San Lorenzo Ruiz.

As part of the Treble Choir Association of the Philippines, the Young Voices of the Philippines has earned international acclaim through performances at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and multiple awards in international events.  Guided by faith, discipline, and artistry, the Young Voices of the Philippines champions Filipino choral tradition and promotes Philippine culture on the global stage.
