While a majority of current K-Pop idols are from Korea, there have been more and more of different backgrounds making their debuts.
In recent years, there have been more K-Pop idols of Filipino descent, with AHOF‘s JL becoming another in the less than ten to debut in a group, or less than twenty when including HORI7ON, the Filipino boy group that promotes in Korea and is considered K-Pop by many.
Recently, an upcoming idol surprised many by revealing that he is also of Filipino descent!
In May 2025, the finale of the SBS survival show B:MY BOYZ aired, introducing the final line-up of a new boy group, YUHZ.

YUHZ official debut date has not been decided, but the members have already attracted attention for a variety of reasons.
Included in the line-up is Moon Jaeil, an 18-year-old who finished third overall in the program.

In a series of messages, Jaeil revealed that his mother is from the Philippines, explicitly stating that he is mixed.
- I’ve been to the Philippines!! My mother’s side of the family lives there~
- You didn’t know, right? haha
- Yeah, I’m mixed!
- I can’t speak Tagalog..!
- Yeah, my mom’s Filipino!
Many fans have reacted with excitement, remarking how unique the group is already.
