Residents and visitors alike, you’ll want to tune into this community event!
From Saturday, June 14th to Sunday, June 15th, the Philippine Bayanihan Community Centre will be hosting the 7th annual Mabuhay! festival—a celebration for Filipino Heritage Month.
Everyone is welcome to venture into the heart of downtown at Centennial Square to partake in the festivities and experience the vibrant spirit, rich traditions and warm personalities of the Filipino Canadian community in the city.
Included in this two-day celebration is a food market with authentic Filipino food, handmade arts and crafts, cultural shows, as well as kids activities and more!
In an interview with Victoria Buzz, Project Manager of the Mabuhay! festival, Melvin “Cobb” Carbonel says that this year is extra special.
“This year marks our biggest lineup yet, with over 65 vendors, community groups, and exhibitors coming together to showcase the richness of Filipino culture,” said Carbonel.
“It’s incredible to witness families, youth, and elders engaging in cultural performances, enjoying traditional food, and reconnecting with heritage.”
Some of the newly introduced additions are a 360° photobooth, a karaoke stage, a 50/50 draw, bingo and a cultural exhibit.
Carbonel added that a major highlight this year is the special performance by Male Ensemble Philippines (MEn), a renowned vocal group from the Philippines.
They’ll be joining the celebration for the first time, bringing world-class Filipino musical artistry to Victoria.
Plus, they’re bringing in more youth-led initiatives, such as the debut of their in-house youth band, Mailbox. They’ll perform their first original single, “Day by Day.”
“For us, Mabuhay! is more than just a festival—it’s a heartfelt expression of our community’s identity, resilience, and joy,” said Carbonel.
“It provides a platform for local Filipino Canadians to showcase their talents, traditions, and stories, while also creating space for cross-cultural connection and understanding. It’s our way of sharing who we are and giving back to a city that embraces diversity.”
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience something truly unforgettable!
