Photos: Culture and faith at the Santacruzen parade in Prince George

The city’s Filipino community gathered for the annual ceremony and celebration.

Members of Prince George’s Filipino community took part in the Santacruzan parade, making their way down Patricia Boulevard and back to Sacred Heart Cathedral, on Sunday, June 22.

Santacruzan, held each May, celebrates the discovery of the Holy Cross by St. Helena, mother of Roman emperor Constantine, who brought Christianity to Rome.

The traditional cultural event sees people in traditional Filipino clothing taking part in what is both a cultural tradition and faith tradition.

The parade was followed by a cultural presentation, potluck and cooking contest.
