Philippines’ Alexandra Eala progresses to Jingshan Open semi-finals

Alexandra Eala rolled into the Jingshan Open 2025 tennis semi-finals with a straight-sets victory over Lu Jiajing on Friday (26 September).

Eala won 6-4, 6-1 to safely reach the last four in the People’s Republic of China. The Filipina will face Lulu Sun of New Zealand for a spot in the final.

Top seed Eala was made to work by home favourite Lu, who pushed her 20-year-old opponent particularly in the opening set in their first career meeting to date.

The 58th-ranked Eala prevailed in the end in 1 hour, 17 minutes as she moved within two wins of her second career title after her triumph in Guadalajara, Mexico.
