SAN FRANCISCO 29 September 2025 — Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Frank R. Ferrer and other officials of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco visited the San Francisco Maritime Museum on 23 September 2025, and met with San Francisco Maritime National Park Association Chief Executive Officer, Darlene Plumtree, and her team to explore possible areas of collaboration. The tour, led by Preservation Manager Todd Bloch, provided insights into the Museum’s historic building and architecture.

The visit coincided with the Philippines’ observance of Maritime and Archipelagic Nations Awareness Month (MANAMo), a nationwide initiative every September that underscores the Philippines’ identity as a maritime and archipelagic nation.

Consul General Ferrer highlighted the deep history of maritime ties between the Philippines and the United States, dating back to the first Filipino seafarers who arrived in California in the late 16th century. Today, the Philippines and the US continue to strengthen their maritime and naval cooperation and engagements.

The Consulate also expressed interest in exploring joint initiatives with the San Francisco Maritime Museum, including maritime research exchanges and exhibits showcasing Philippines-U.S. maritime heritage. END
