MANILA, Philippines — Things still appear to be civil between actor Paolo Contis and his ex-wife Lian Paz, who recently wed her longtime partner John Cabahug.
John posted on his Instagram account photos of his and Lian’s civil wedding that appeared to take place at the Mandaue city hall in Cebu.
“I love you forever, Lian,” John wrote in the post’s caption, adding later in the comments, “To everyone who wishes me and Lian the best on our wedding day, we see all your messages. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
On Lian’s own Instagram account, the former EB Babe shared that her daughters Xonia, Xalene and Nina all took part in the ceremony.
Nina is Lian’s nine-year-old child with John while Xonia and Xalene are Lian’s daughters with Paolo, whom she previously married in 2009 but separated from three years later.
Paolo confirmed to Gorgy Rula of Pilipino Star Ngayon and Pep.ph that it’s been a few months since a court granted the annulment of Paolo and Lian’s marriage, paving the way for the latter to wed John.
Asked for his reaction to Lian and John’s wedding, Paolo simply said “I’m happy for them.”
Last month, Paolo reunited with Lian and his daughter during John’s 38th birthday, thanking the former basketball player for looking after his daughters.
“Lian, you have always been kind and forgiving. This is why hindi kayo pinabayaan ni Lord. I appreciate all your efforts in talking to John about that day. Thank you for being strong and for how you nurtured the kids to have beautiful heart,” Paolo said then.
