PAL’s upgraded A321ceos showcase Filipino craftsmanship

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to transform the travel experience on its Airbus A321ceo fleet with a comprehensive cabin refurbishment, reinforcing its position as a key regional carrier across ASEAN, Greater China, Japan, South Korea, and Guam.

The airline, owned by ultra bilyonaryo Lucio Tan, recently took delivery of its first revamped A321ceo, registered RP-C9905, following an extensive retrofit by Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) in Manila.

The upgraded aircraft features a dual-class configuration seating 194 passengers—12 in Business Class and 182 in Economy. Business Class offers a 2-2 seating layout designed for enhanced comfort and privacy, complete with in-seat power outlets, USB-A ports, multiple storage options, and a mini cocktail table.

Passengers can enjoy entertainment on 13.3-inch embedded screens, elevating the in-flight experience.

Economy Class seats are arranged in a 3-3 layout, each equipped with a 10.1-inch entertainment screen and USB-A charging ports.

PAL selected Collins Pinnacle seats for Economy, produced locally at the Collins factory in Batangas, highlighting Filipino craftsmanship and supporting domestic manufacturing.

Alvin Miranda, PAL’s vice president for Marketing, emphasized the project’s significance: “This cabin retrofit program reflects PAL’s vision of world-class excellence and heartfelt care. At the core of this undertaking is the dedicated craftsmanship showcased by Filipino workers in the manufacture of aircraft seats and the reconfiguration of the cabin in the Philippines.”

This retrofit is the first of its kind in the country, involving local workers in seat production, installation, and cabin upgrades.

The refurbished A321ceos will initially serve flights to Tokyo, Osaka, Jakarta, Bali, and Guam, with plans to expand to other key Asian destinations by next year.

The program will cover all 18 A321ceo aircraft in PAL’s fleet by 2027, aiming to boost passenger comfort and operational efficiency across the flag carrier’s regional network.
