PAL Pushes Forward with DEI Through ‘Fly With Her’ in 2025
As the USA abandons DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives due to concerns over merit-based “woke” standards and safety risks, Philippine Airlines (PAL) introduces the “Fly With Her” program in 2025 to increase female pilot representation.
PAL announced, “We are pledging Php 10 million to the PAL Foundation through our Fly With Her Program to increase female representation in the airline’s pilot workforce.”
The Fly With Her program builds on PAL’s long-standing commitment to DEI, particularly to women in aviation, dating back to Filipina Aimee Carandang-Gloria, who became Southeast Asia’s first female commercial airline pilot in 1989.
Currently, over 80 women pilots fly for PAL, making up 9% of its pilot roster, yet the global number remains at a low 6%. Recognizing this gap, PAL aims to encourage more women to pursue aviation careers while maintaining strict training and competency standards.
PAL will implement the program through scholarships, mentorship, and career development initiatives in partnership with the PAL Foundation. It will assist aspiring female pilots financially, provide access to world-class flight training, and pair cadets with experienced mentors to guide them through their careers.
PAL assures merit a priority
PAL assures that merit and competence will remain the top priority, ensuring that all pilots, regardless of gender, meet the highest aviation safety and performance standards.
