In a vibrant tribute to Filipino identity and tradition, Belmont Hotel Manila launched ‘Paghabi at Kape,’ a cultural initiative that weaves together heritage, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
Held at Café Belmont in partnership with Jeannie Laccay of Aruga Handwoven and SGD Coffee, the event brought together tradition, artistry, and community empowerment.
At the center of the celebration were the vibrant Isinay weaves of Nueva Vizcaya, handcrafted by the women of Aruga Handwoven. These textiles, rooted in the traditions of the Bugkalot hunters, showcase intricate patterns and ancestral stories passed down through generations.

Adding depth to the cultural experience, dancers from the Mountain Province performed traditional tribal dances, which offered guests a glimpse into Cordilleran heritage.

‘Paghabi at Kape’ reflects Belmont Hotel Manila’s commitment to sustainable hospitality and cultural preservation. The event also championed the slow fashion movement, encouraging conscious consumption and deeper appreciation of Filipino indigenous craftsmanship.
Guests were also treated to freshly brewed SGD Coffee from Sagada—premium Arabica beans cultivated through ethical, high-altitude farming. SGD Coffee’s advocacy for local farmers aligned seamlessly with the event’s mission of inclusive growth.
A special exhibit of Aruga Handwoven textiles will remain on display and available for purchase at Belmont Hotel Manila until July 30, with all proceeds supporting the weavers of Nueva Vizcaya and the preservation of their cultural heritage.
