MANILA – Authorities have arrested two individuals and seized some PHP75 million worth of suspected shabu during a joint airport interdiction operation at a warehouse at Clark Freeport Zone in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
In a news release Sunday, the Bureau of Customs and Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group headed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon (PDEA-3) said they apprehended a suspicious parcel declared as an industrial water chiller shipped from Mexico and consigned to an address in Cainta, Rizal on Saturday afternoon.
Upon inspection of the parcel, operatives discovered 11.04 kilograms of suspected shabu concealed within the shipment.
Arrested were alias “Dex,” 52, and “Maca,” 54.
The suspects will face charges for violation of Sections 4, 11 and 20, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Recovered non-drug evidence included identification documents, a mobile phone, vehicle, and various shipping papers linked to the smuggling attempt.
PDEA-3 said the confiscated substance will undergo laboratory examination while the arrested suspects are under custody. (PNA)
