A teary-eyed Nicole Scherzinger won her first Tony Sunday night for best actress in a musical in Sunset Boulevard.
“First of all, I have to thank God for carrying me every step of the way. I give you all the glory,” she said fighting through tears.
The former Pussycat Doll thanked her fellow “warrior women” in this category for “making this little Hawaiian, Ukranian, Filipino girl’s dream come true. So proud to represent,” she declared.

She talked about her fiance’, former rugby player Thom Evans, “who believes in me when I forget to believe in myself.”
Earlier she received a standing ovation for performing As If We Never Said Goodbye from the Jamie Lloyd revival which also won for best revival of a musical and best lighting design for Jack Knowles.

“Growing up, I always felt like I didn’t belong, but you all have made me feel like I belong and I have come home at last. So, if there’s anyone out there that feels like they don’t belong, or your time hasn’t come, don’t give up. Just keep on giving and giving because the world needs your love and your light now more than ever. This is a testament that love always wins.”
