More than a showcase of artistry, Likha aims to stimulate local economic growth and empower Filipino crafts to eventually thrive in the global market. The exhibit brought together seasoned artisans, emerging talents, and graduates of craft programs in a shared celebration of Filipino craftsmanship, culture, and heritage.

Likha is a collaborative effort of the Office of the First Lady (OFL), the Intramuros Administration, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Present in the opening ceremony was First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, together with the OFL secretariat, Intramuros Administrator (IA) Joan Padilla and IA secretatriat, NCCA Executive Director Eric Zerrudo, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, Industry Secretary Christina Aldeguer-Roque, and Presidential Adviser for Pasig River Rehabilitation Jose Rizalino Acuzar.

In her message, First Lady Araneta-Marcos highlighted the arduous efforts of the artisans from farther regions just to attend and join the exhibit.

This year’s Likha, which ran from June 6-8, also marks a symbolic milestone as it was held at the Foro de Intramuros — a new development built on the historic site of the former Ateneo de Manila.

According to the IA, Ateneo de Manila stood on this site from 1859 to 1941. The property later served various functions until IA reclaimed it in 1992. Today, it houses the Foro de Intramuros, a contemporary indoor events space that incorporates design elements of the old Ateneo façade. The venue recently debuted with the Intramuros Grand Santacruzan.
