Moncadistas celebrate heritage, friendship

ON FRIDAY, July 4, 2025, the Moncadista community in Barangay Sudlon 2, Cebu City, celebrated US Independence Day and Philippine-American Friendship Day. This occasion also marked three significant milestones: the 78th anniversary of the Filipino Crusaders World Army (FCWA), the barangay’s annual fiesta and a reaffirmation of their unique cultural and spiritual heritage.

Led by president and “five-star general” Henry Jayme, the group held a parade and a short program, followed by a communal meal of fruits and vegetables. This meal symbolized their “Healthy Life Law,” which prohibits meat, alcohol and tobacco.

Easily recognizable by their long hair and beards, Moncadista men adhere to the teachings of Dr. Hilario Camino Moncado, the FCWA founder, and Gen. Federico Jayme, who led the forces in the World Philippine-American Guerrillas.

Their base, now known as the Moncado Hotel, was established in Sudlon 2 during World War II. Here, they actively resisted corruption and maintained a strict moral code. Today, the Moncadistas continue to live by these values, promoting health, unity and lasting Filipino-American ties.
