Marcos says PH secured job, investment opportunities from Japan

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday shared that the Philippines secured new job and investment opportunities for Filipinos after his working visit to Japan.

Marcos flew to Japan on Thursday to inaugurate the Philippine Pavilion at the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and to meet with businessmen and Filipino community. He arrived in Manila around 6 p.m. on Sunday.

In a statement, Marcos expressed that he is “proud to see” how the Philippine Pavilion highlighted the Filipino culture that is “rich in culture, driven by innovation, and committed to building a sustainable and inclusive future.”

Marcos shared that among the key business commitments secured is the partnership of Kanadevia Corporation and Phil. Ecology Systems Corp. for a “waste-to-energy project that will help manage waste while generating clean energy.”

He added that Tsuneishi Group will build the world’s first methanol dual-fueled KAMSARMAX bulk carrier in Cebu, which is expected to generate jobs and position the Philippines “as a leader in green shipping.”

The president also said that the Philippines strengthened its partnership with the Japanese tourism leaders to boost opportunities for Filipinos by bringing more tourists to the country.

Aside from this, Marcos noted that his meeting with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency paved the way for collaboration in space technology to strengthen community safety and disaster monitoring, and to support farmers.

Lastly, Marcos thanked the Filipino community in Osaka “for representing our country with dignity, professionalism and compassion that continue to bring pride to our nation.” /mr
