Tony Award winner and Disney legend Lea Salonga can add another honor to her illustrious career.
She’ll receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Salonga is best known for her Tony-winning performances in Miss Saigon and her chart topping hit A Whole New World from Disney’s Aladdin.
“I woke up at 5:46 a.m. and headed straight to social media. I started seeing that I was going to get my own star, and thought, this can’t be real. Then I checked texts coming from my manager, and his message was, ‘Call me before you look at any social media,’” she told GMA News via email.
According to the Inquirer, the Manilla International Film Festival nominated her and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed this week that she will be among the 35 awardees in the class of 2026.
She will be the first Philippine-born star to be added to the walk. Other Filipino Americans already on the Walk include Bruno Mars (2016), apl.de.ap (2016), and Rob Schneider (2011).
Her Broadway performances include roles in Les Miserables, Flower Drum Song, Allegiance, Once On This Island, and Here Lies Love.
