Culture, colour, and community ignited the stage as Buwan ng Wika – Musikang Atin turned into a blockbuster event, showcasing a fusion of Filipino music, fashion, art, and heritage in one unforgettable celebration.
Spearheaded by Kulinarya Qatar in celebration of its 11th Anniversary, the cultural spectacle was a vibrant display of talent and tradition, making waves throughout the Filipino diaspora in Qatar. The event was co-organised in collaboration with Mohammed Saeed Abdullah and Ali Ragab Omar Ahmed of Al Jasrah Cultural and Social Club, with key support from Myles Inalisan-Laurinaria of MD Studio, Indi Angkoolz, and JR Studio.
Musical Magic
The spotlight sizzled with electrifying performances from 14 powerhouse local bands, including crowd favorites like Salinlahi, 6O’9nines, Singko Rekta, Dark Side, Tsirubrak, Glass Onion, Decalibre, Skraper, Jeprox na Punk, and Tropical Herbz. Not to mention standout acts from MD Studio Col, Parallel Run, Tempra and rappers DG Wakra and Dhefertheztig.
Royalty on the Runway
An intermission number wrapped up the electrifying band performances and set the stage for the evening’s grand highlight — the “Munting Prinsipe at Prinsesa (MPP) Fashion Show.”
The night then took a glamorous turn with the MPP fashion event featuring young models gracefully strutting in Modern Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog creations by international fashion designer Celso Collado Dahil — a stunning blend of elegance and cultural identity. With poise and pride, the MPP models stole the hearts of the audience, celebrating tradition with a modern flair.
Culture in Motion
Dancers from Xtreme Level Danz Crew captivated the crowd with their deeply symbolic performance of “Ilog ng Buhay”, a modern cultural dance portraying the “River of Life” — a metaphor for vitality and renewal.
Soul-stirring renditions included “Babalik Ka Rin” by Kasambahay Got Talent Season 2 Grand Winner Alma Vinson Morte, “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig” by the KaSingBahay Team, and “Panaginip – Crazy as Pinoy,” a powerful trio performance by the “Tres Marias” — Joy, Imelda, and May, joined by Avelino Belen Jr., the sole male voice from KGT-S2.
Creativity Unfolds
Creativity flowed from canvas to community with the Poster Making Contest led by Mama Joy, spotlighting impressive entries from the Filipino Arts Society (FAS) and Philippine School Doha (PSD) students.
Games, Fitness, Family Fun
No Filipino celebration is complete without traditional games. Palarong Lahi, supported by Maharlika Cuisine by Chef Ben, brought childhood favorites back to life.
Meanwhile, fitness buffs joined Zumba Level Up powered by Zin Marvin Abaredes, Roel Mardo, and Michaeljo Garcia — pumping up the energy with support from Filipino Fitness and Health Qatar (FFHQ) officers.
Champions Behind the Scenes
The success of this event would not have been possible without the vision and leadership of Dahlia Agbanlog, Founder and Chairman of Kulinarya Qatar. Special recognition was also given to JT De Vera, the overall director of the MPP Fashion Show.
Key collaborators who played a vital role in the event included Greg’s Studio and Maestro Dexter De Lara Tumang of the Filipino Composers and Music Producers Qatar. Bringing the event to screens and streams, Cloud Darryle Camacho, Clive Isaac Palayan, Marcus Johm Francia, and Veronika Bianca Millena worked tirelessly behind the scenes. With music, fashion, and artistry at its core, “Buwan ng Wika – Musikang Atin” wasn’t just an event. It was a powerful statement of Filipino pride, resilience, and unity in Qatar.
