Kobe Paras has been announced as the latest Filipino signing headed to the Japan B.League, joining six others under the Asian Player Quota.
B.League club Niigata Albirex BB on Sunday posted on social media about the signing of the Paras for the 2021-2022 season.

Paras is a 6-foot-6 forward who suited up for the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in the UAAP, making it to the Mythical Five in Season 82 after averaging 17.4 points and 5.7 rebounds. He has also made appearances for the Gilas Pilipinas national team.
“I am very grateful to have this opportunity to be a part of such a great organization and basketball league,” Paras said on the team’s official website.
“I look forward to playing in the role that coach Hiraoka has envisioned for me and showcasing the love I have for this game on a professional level in front of the great Niigata boosters.”
Niigata Albirex BB plays in the B1, the first division of the Japanese league, finishing with a 16-38 record last season. They are one of several B.League teams that will feature Filipino players on their roster in the upcoming season.
Thirdy Ravena will be making a second tour of duty with the San-En NeoPhoenix while his brother Kiefer will be suiting up for the Shiga Lakestars for one season before returning to fulfill his commitments with the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA.
Paras’ UP teammates, Juan and Javi Gomez de Liaño, will also be in the B.League this season. Javi will play for the Ibaraki Robots while Juan will suit up for the Earth Friends Tokyo Z in the second division, B2.
Kemark Carino will also be in the B2, powering the Aomori Wat’s while Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. was recently cleared by the PBA to play for the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins in the first division.
