Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., led by Executive Chairman Kevin L. Tan, is accelerating the development of the $1.25-billion Westside integrated resort in Entertainment City, targeting an opening in the third quarter of 2026.
The timeline follows the approved implementation plan from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.
The project was originally scheduled to open in 2022 but has experienced multiple delays.
Executed through Entertainment City Resorts Corp. (ECRC), the resort will feature over 2,500 hotel rooms across three brands, more than 2,000 gaming machines and tables, and a curated lineup of restaurants and lifestyle concepts.
At the center of the development is a theater district, designed to position the Philippines as the “Broadway of Asia.”
The Apollo Theater will open first, followed by the Grand Opera House, envisioned as a national stage for Filipino and international productions.
“Westside City is more than a destination—it’s a commitment to Filipino talent and world-class entertainment,” Tan said. “Our vision is to create a global stage that celebrates local excellence, drives tourism, and redefines how the world experiences the Philippines.”
The resort is being built under a strategic agreement between Travellers International, Suntrust Resort Holdings Inc. (affiliated with Hong Kong’s LET Group), and other entities.
Travellers holds a majority stake in Westside Bayshore Holding Corp., which owns ECRC and oversees construction, development, and operations, while Suntrust holds a 20% stake.
Following the legacy of Newport World Resorts, Travellers International said Westside City will reinforce its mission to develop world-class destinations, create jobs, and stimulate growth in tourism, creative industries, and the wider economy.
