More than a year after the release of “Hello, Love, Again,” Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards continue to be recognized for their success, as they were among the Box Office Heroes to be awarded at the 8th Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards (EDDYs).
Bernardo and Richards were revealed as this year’s Box Office Heroes on the EDDYs’ Facebook page on Saturday, July 19.
Other stars who will be recognized at the ceremony are Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto for “Un/Happy For You”; Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual for “The Kingdom”; Ruru Madrid and Dennis Trillo for “Green Bones”; and Vice Ganda for “And the Breadwinner Is…”
“Hello, Love, Again” tells the story of Joy (Bernardo) and Ethan (Richards) reuniting in Canada after their breakup, only to discover how much they have changed as individuals since they parted ways. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, it is currently the highest-grossing Filipino film with P1.6 billion.
Meanwhile, “And the Breadwinner Is…” is the highest-grossing 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) film after earning P400 million at the box office. “Green Bones” and “The Kingdom” were also among the highest-earning films in last year’s MMFF, although it remains unknown which of the three films had the highest box office win.
“Un/Happy For You,” on the other hand, grossed P450 million, per reports.
Organized by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), the 8th EDDYs will be held on Sunday, July 20, at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom at Newport World Resorts in Pasay City./mcm
