Jessica Sanchez wins America’s Got Talent season 20 and takes home $1M prize

Filipino-American singer Jessica Sanchez has been declared the grand winner of America’s Got Talent season 20, marking another milestone in her career.

Sanchez delivered a standout finale performance that won over both the judges — Sofia Vergara, Simon Cowell, Mel B, and Howie Mandel — and the audience, securing her the top spot over finalist Chris Turner. Her victory also comes with the $1-million grand prize.

Ahead of the announcement, Sanchez returned to the stage to perform “Golden Hour,” followed by an aerial act from Circa Marea. She also gave a stirring rendition of Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s Die With a Smile.

In a Facebook Live streamed earlier on Wednesday (Manila time), she expressed gratitude to her fans, describing her AGT journey as both a dream and a test of resilience. Sanchez told her supporters she gave them her “very last breath on stage.”

The Chula Vista native first joined America’s Got Talent in its debut season, reaching the semi-finals. She later gained global recognition in 2012 after finishing as runner-up on American Idol season 11. A year later, she released her debut album Me, You & the Music and went on to appear in the hit series Glee.
