Jessica Sanchez earns Golden Buzzer in ‘AGT’

Filipino-American singer Jessica Sanchez made a powerful return to the “America’s Got Talent” (AGT) stage this week — 20 years after first appearing on the show as a child in its first season.

Jessica, 29, stunned the judges with her rendition of Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” earning a Golden Buzzer from judge Sofía Vergara.

“I think something very special happened on the stage with you,” Sofía said. “It’s so amazing that we’re on the 20th anniversary of AGT. You’re here again after 20 years. You’re pregnant… I really don’t understand what happened in these 20 years. But I guess they were meant to be because this was a special moment, and I think you deserve this.”

The performance marked a full-circle moment for the singer, who revealed she was just 10 years old when she first competed on AGT in 2006.

“To succeed you have to have determination and talent. All those years of really wanting something and just going for it — it was powerful, right?” judge Simon Cowell told Jessica backstage.

Now expecting her first child, a teary-eyed Jessica received a warm embrace from her husband Rickie Gallardo, who told her, “You did so freaking good.”

Jessica’s comeback has sparked excitement among fans — particularly in the Philippines, where she has performed several times.

The singer will advance directly to the live shows later this season and is already being talked about as a top contender for the AGT crown.
