In case you haven’t heard yet, there’s a new awards show coming that puts the spotlight on OPM excellence on a scale unlike ever before, and it’s called the Filipino Music Awards (FMAs). Happening this October 21, the FMAs is a celebration of OPM and the artists and creatives in front of and behind the mic that make the genre thrive the way it does.

In line with the FMAs’ mission to honor the best of Filipino music, most of the winners will be determined by a distinguished jury composed of OPM icons and industry veterans. However, that doesn’t mean the fans don’t have a say on who takes home an FMA on the 21st. In fact, there’s a whole category under the FMAs where every winner will be determined by fan voting.

THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE 

The People’s Choice Awards category is dedicated to celebrating the artists who shape youth culture, drive conversation, and set trends across music, fashion, and the internet. Specifically, there are three awards under the category. The first is People’s Choice Awards: Artist, which awards the Filipino artist who has undeniably grabbed the public’s attention. The second is People’s Choice Awards: Song, which honors the track most loved by the public. The third and last is People’s Choice Awards: International Artist, which is given to the global act adored by Filipinos. 

As the name suggests, the category’s awardees will be determined by the public through popular vote. And if you’re ready to make your fave score the W, here are the deets.

HOW TO VOTE

First, head on over to the FMAs’ official website. There, you will find the links to each poll for each category as well as a dedicated button to take you straight to the People’s Choice Awards polls. Click on the link of the poll you want to vote in. Each category has ten nominees, so you’ll have a lot of options to choose who to vote for (and you’re also not limited to voting for just one nominee per poll).

Do note that voting will only be conducted on the FMAs site. Avoid voting on unauthorized third-party sites. Unlimited voting is allowed, and to vote again, just refresh the page after submitting your vote. Voting will run from September 20 to October 3 only. Once the voting period is over, the Filipino Music Awards team will go over the results, and the nominee with the most votes will be declared the winner in their respective category. The official winners’ announcement will happen on the actual awards show on October 21. 

So, let your voice be heard and vote for the nominee you want to see head on the FMA stage to accept their award. And remember, have fun and vote fairly.
