Filipino singer Ronnie Liang says over 100 women victimised by fake AI videos of him

Ronnie Liang is urging the public to be more vigilant after he was used in manipulated Artificial Intelligence (AI) videos that have victimised over 100 women thus far.

The Filipino actor-singer told select members of the press on Thursday, July 3, how he was exploited in fake and edited AI videos to “build romance” and solicit money from various women that possibly amounted to $500,000.

“I was accused of asking people for money. I was accused of tricking them into meeting me in hotels, where some had already booked a flight to meet a supposed me,” he said.

Liang, who showed the manipulated videos to the press, stated that they were edited from his live videos, and shared that the victims included both Filipinas and foreigners.

The Pinoy Dream Academy second runner-up admitted that he was “frustrated” that people are getting victimised, as he keeps on reminding them not to believe anything online.

“To our Filipinas, but actually those who often send money are foreigners, please be vigilant, be observant, and be careful not to believe that Ronnie Liang will try to seduce you and arrange for you to stay in hotels and order you to book flights, that is not me,” he stated.

Meanwhile, in addition to being an actor and singer, Liang recently earned his doctorate degree in Security Development Administration.

The singer has also addressed the accusations surrounding his studies, defending his hard work to achieve the academic milestone.

“There are those who are bashing me, saying I bought my diploma. I was hurt because they didn’t know the pain and hardship I went through. They can verify with CHED and the university. It’s not my problem if they are not updated on every single thing I do every semester,” he said.

Liang, who is an Army reservist and a licensed private pilot, also recently released a new single, Sulyap Mo Lang (Just Your Glance).

When asked what the new song is about, he described it as a love song, about those who have a hard time admitting their feelings and resort to just looking at their object of affection from afar.

The proceeds from Sulyap Mo Lang will go to Liang’s Project Ngiti Foundation, which provides free surgery, transportation and medicine to children with cleft lip and palate. – Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network
