Filipino-American tech investor and entrepreneur Susan Ocampo has secured a spot on Forbes’ prestigious 2025 list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women.
The list ranked the wealthiest women in the United States who substantially built their own fortunes through entrepreneurship, business leadership, or innovation. To be eligible, Forbes requires that entrants must have made their wealth independently while being U.S. citizens or permanent residents. While none inherited their wealth, some climbed higher by overcoming greater obstacles. Each woman is also given a “self-made” score to reflect their journey, ranging from 6 (hired hand) to 10 (rags-to-riches entrepreneur), according to Forbes.
At the top of the list is Diane Hendricks, chair of ABC Supply, with a net worth of $22.3 billion. Rounding out the top three are Judy Faulkner, founder of healthcare software firm Epic Systems ($7.8 billion), and Marian Ilitch, co-founder of Little Caesars Pizza ($6.9 billion).
The rest of the top 10 includes:
-
Lynda Resnick – $6.3 billion (Agriculture)
-
Thai Lee – $6.1 billion (IT provider)
-
Elizabeth Uihlein – $5.6 billion (Packaging materials)
-
Gail Miller & family – $4.6 billion (Car dealerships)
-
Eren Ozmen – $4.4 billion (Aerospace)
-
Jayshree Ullal – $4.4 billion (Computer networking)
-
Johnelle Hunt – $3.8 billion (Trucking)
While the majority of those in the top 10 are long-established entrepreneurs in traditional industries, new wealth in tech and entertainment continues to rise across the wider list.
Ocampo, who ranked 18th on the list, has an estimated net worth of $2 billion. Ocampo, 67, is based in Hawaii and made her fortune in semiconductors. She is a board member and the largest individual shareholder of Macom Technology Solutions, a semiconductor firm listed on the Nasdaq.
Ocampo cofounded Sirenza Microdevices in 1984 with her late husband, John Ocampo, and later helped establish GaAs Labs in 2008, a technology investment firm where she continues to serve as vice president, secretary, and treasurer.
She also previously served on the boards of RF Micro Devices, Ubiquiti, and Mimix Broadband. A graduate of Miriam College in the Philippines, Ocampo’s ascent marks a proud moment for Filipino representation in global business leadership.
Other high-profile names on the list include entertainment moguls and celebrity entrepreneurs such as Oprah Winfrey (13th, $3.1 billion), Kim Kardashian (19th, $1.7 billion), Rihanna (35th, $1 billion), Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (45th, $780 million), and Selena Gomez (48th, $700 million).
