MANILA, Philippines — After six years, international rap group Black Eyed Peas returned to the Philippines with a bang performing in front of thousands of fans at the Mall of Asia Arena last night.
Produced by Wilbros Live, Taboo, Will.I.Am, Apl.De.Ap and J.Rey Soul opened the concert with “Let’s Get It Started,” “Boom Boom Pow,” and “Rock That Body” to set the mood for the long night as the crowd danced in the whole arena.
They then performed “Rock That Body,” “RITMO” and “Mamacita.”
Each member also had their solo spots.
Taboo performed “East LA” and “In The Air” for his solo set.
The Filipino-American Apl, meanwhile, performed “The APL Song” and “Mabuti.”
The Angeles, Pampanga native delighted fans when K-pop star Sandara or Dara she appeared on stage to perform their single “2 Proud.”
Another Filipino-American rapper, EZ Mil, also joined his fellow proud Fil-Am as they performed the anthemic “Bebot.”
“To the country I love, Pilipinas. And thank you to my team for visiting the Philippines,” Apl said.
For his own solo performance, Will performed “This is Love,” “That Power” and “Scream and Shout.”
The group then joined together for the performance of their hit songs “Pump It,” “Don’t Stop The Party,” “The Time” and “Where Is The Love?”
The members looked back at their past and how they came to be one of music’s biggest acts, winning records and the Grammys.
Will talked about his first meeting with Apl when the latter was 14 years old. Will said he could not believe that the Filipino teenager was working in the farm at an early age.
He said that Apl was crying at night wanting to go back home to his beloved Angeles. Will, Apl’s newfound life-long friend, promised that the Filipino would return to his country for a concert, and this promise was fulfilled more than once.
The Grammy-winning group finished their concert with the upbeat track “I Got A Feeling.”
The group last performed in Manila during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games closing ceremony at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.
