The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
In celebration of next month’s Filipino American History Month, Baon Kainan and Pamana are collaborating for an experiential exhibition created by Kyle Beltran and Kat Magsaysay.
Join The Hoxton, Portland, to explore three intimate gallery spaces featuring fashion photography, styled mannequins, and cultural storytelling. Then, and taste three limited dishes by PAMANA, inspired by cherished Filipino dishes.
The images were captured by Celest Noche and styled by Kyle Beltran in looks inspired by childhood memories growing up in the Philippines and assimilating in America. It’s both a personal and a universal story to not only immigrants but anyone who’s faced the challenge of answering, “Who am I?”
Both food and fashion impact what it means to be accepted culturally and how to express that visually.
