Entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin is facing legal trouble after a Quezon City court ordered her arrest in relation to a libel case filed by actress Bea Alonzo.
Presiding Judge Cherry Chiara Hernando of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93 found probable cause to proceed with the case, setting bail at ₱48,000 each for Fermin and her co-hosts Rommel Villamor and Wendell Alvarez.
The charges stem from cyber libel complaints filed by Alonzo in May 2024. The actress took legal action following a wave of online commentary surrounding her breakup with actor Dominic Roque—topics frequently discussed in Fermin’s online shows. Roque has also lodged a separate case.
Alonzo’s lawyer, Atty. Joey Garcia, emphasized that the actress was left with no choice after enduring months of what he called “false, malicious, and damaging” content online.
“This is the very first time that Bea has pursued this legal action despite her more than two decades in the entertainment industry,” Garcia noted. “But there is always a limit, and now is the time for definitive legal action.”
Fermin, however, defended her side, insisting their vlogs were not fixated on Alonzo. “Bilang pampublikong pigura po sila, ay kami naman po ’yung nagtatawid ng mga balita tungkol sa kanila,” she said. “Hindi po namin maaaring punahin si Bea Alonzo lamang para kumita ang aming mga vlogs.”
She concluded her statement with a defiant, “See you in court.”
