DUMAGUETE CITY – Anti-illegal drug operatives have seized a kilogram of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP6.8 million and arrested a suspect during a buy-bust operation in Bacong, Negros Oriental.

Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), identified the suspect on Thursday as Antonio Millomida Torres, 42, single, and a resident of Barangay Tabuc-tubig in this capital city.

Torres, who was on the police’s list of high-value targets, was arrested in Purok 5, Barangay Sulodpan in Bacong town late Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly sold the suspected shabu to undercover operatives.

Polinar said they were still determining whether the proliferation of illegal drugs this time was connected to the ongoing activities for the Silliman University Founder’s Day and the town fiesta of Bacong on Aug. 28.

Operatives seized the narcotics, packed in several transparent plastic sachets, as well as a motorcycle, a cellphone, and some cash from the suspect. (PNA)
