HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – October is Filipino American History Month, with several events happening across the state, including:
OCTOBER 4:
- 9 a.m.: 4th Annual Filipino Cultural Summit and 43rd Sariling Gawa Youth Conference “Weaving Cultural Resilience: Threads of Filipino Identity Across Eras” at Leeward Community College features interactive sessions, discussions and workshops about Filipino culture and heritage.
- 12-8 p.m.: Philippine Airlines’ 3rd USA Cup at the Waikele Golf Country Club. The event brings together over 150 golfers for charity.
- 2-5 p.m. Kick off event for month-long celebration of Filipino art, fashion and music at the Capitol Modern. It features and unveiling of the Bamboo to Brass exhibit, a panel of local artists, and a Tatak fashion show collaboration featuring master hand-tap tattoo practitioner Lane Wilcken and Oahu-based fashion brand Elle Karayan.
OCTOBER 10-13:
- UP Rondalla returns to Hawaii for musical tour
OCTOBER 11:
- Filipino Community Center Bayanihan Gala, Hilton Hawaiian Tapa Ballroom, 5:30 p.m.
- Filipino Night for UH Women’s Volleyball
OCTOBER 12:
- East-West Center Filipino Art & Culture Exhibit
OCTOBER 15-16:
- University of Hawaii at Manoa Center for Philippine Studies’ 50th anniversary: Rare Collection Tour
OCTOBER 17:
- The Outstanding Filipino Awards in Las Vegas
OCTOBER 18-25:
- Philippine Consulate in Honolulu’s Filipino Food Week
OCTOBER 25:
- From Plantation to Diaspora Filipino Festival with Ruby Ibarra
