A Filipino beer brand that has been a witness to friendships, celebrations and unforgettable moments, from small gatherings to large festivals across generations, has unveiled a can design that commemorates its 135th anniversary.
To honor this rich heritage and history, San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB) released a limited-edition “Balik Tanaw” Pale Pilsen can last August 13, featuring the creative vision of renowned Filipino visual artist Francis Nacion. The design revisits traditional Filipino settings and milestones, reflecting how the beer has become intertwined with culture and personal memories.
The beer started brewing in 1890 and has expanded its market reach to over 70 countries.
Meanwhile, Nacion, celebrated for his stylized forms and works that explore both light and dark facets of life, has long been inspired by local imagery and cultural significance. He has been mounting multiple solo exhibits in the country and overseas, showcasing works that illustrate his love and pride for his country and its culture since 2009.
His collaboration on this collectible can brings history, artistry and national pride together in a single piece.
The “Balik Tanaw” can is available for collectors and enthusiasts in select stores and through delivery services.
The brand said it is a tribute not only to a beverage but to the memories and moments it has inspired for over a century.
