Fast-rising Filipino singer-songwriter Anthony Meneses, who has amassed over half a million monthly Spotify listeners, returns with a brand-new rendition of his single Paruparo, now reimagined as a duet with Korean singer-songwriter Kim Gyeol. Released under Abyss Company, the collaboration marks Anthony’s second project with the Korean entertainment label following Embotido (May 2025). Notably, Anthony is also the first artist signed under Abyss Company Philippines, a move that underscores the label’s mission to strengthen Filipino-Korean music collaborations.
Originally introduced in February 2023, Paruparo quickly became a fan favorite for its heartfelt lyricism and soulful melody. This refreshed 2025 version breathes new life into the track, blending Anthony’s deep, expressive voice with Kim Gyeol’s emotive and poetic tone—creating a seamless fusion of two cultures through music.
Anthony has steadily risen in the OPM scene since his breakout as a Wishcovery Season 3 Grand Finalist (2021) and later as a Top 12 finalist on Idol Philippines Season 2 (2022), where his viral audition of When I Met You garnered over 2.5 million views. His growing discography includes Padayon (2022), Paruparo (2023), Pano Maging Tayo with This Band (2023), and Kusapiling (2024), which debuted at #13 on Spotify Philippines’ Viral Songs Chart. Since 2024, he has also been a regular performer on ABS-CBN’s ASAP Natin ‘To, as part of the ASAP Rockoustic Heartthrobs.
Kim Gyeol, meanwhile, is gaining recognition in Korea for her evocative style, with singles like One’s Love and A Creased Heart, alongside YouTube covers that have each surpassed one million views. Her heartfelt delivery adds depth to Paruparo, elevating it into a cross-cultural anthem of emotion and artistry.
