Alexa Mendoza wins Idol Kids Philippines

Nine-year-old Alexa Mendoza from Calamba, Laguna, was hailed as the very first grand winner of the reality singing competition Idol Kids Philippines.

Alexa clinched the crown after garnering a combined judges’ score and public votes of 98.88 percent during the grand finals held on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

In the finale, she wowed both judges and viewers with her heartfelt rendition of the Eraserheads classic “Ang Huling El Bimbo” and her original song “Maaabot Ko,” edging out fellow finalists Quinn Holmes and Klied Cuangco.

Alexa takes home the grand prize of PHP1 million, plus PHP350,000 from the show’s sponsor, and a recording contract from StarPop.

“Maraming salamat po sa mga bomoto po sa akin, at saka meron pa po akong sipon at ubo po,” said an emotional Alexa.

HARD WORK PAYS OFF

Alexa’s win marks the culmination of a challenging journey, which included the disappointment of being rejected during her stint on The Voice Kids in 2024.

On Idol Kids Philippines, Alexa showcased her love for ’90s Filipino rock, delivering powerful perfomances of Yano’s “Banal Na Aso, Santong Kabayo” and Rivermaya’s “Kisapmata,” before capping her run with the Eraserheads’ iconic anthem “Ang Huling El Bimbo.”

Earlier in the semifinals, Alexa also displayed her versatility with a standout rendition of Gloc-9’s rap hit “Sirena.”

In the grand finals, she secured a commanding 98.88 percent of the combined judges’ scores and public votes, far ahead of Klied’s 85.38 percent and Quinn’s 80.99 percent.

IDOL KIDS PHILIPPINES ENDS FIRST SEASON

Alexa’s victory also closes the inaugural season of Idol Kids Philippines, which premiered on June 28 on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and Kapamilya Online Live.

Serving as the show’s judges were Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Angeline Quinto, and JK Labajo.

Colet Vergara and Maloi Ricalde of the popular pop group BINI, songwriter and record producer Jonathan Manalo, and singer-songwriter Yeng Constantino also appeared as guest mentors on the show.
