It’s Miller time for San Beda.
The Red Lions leaned on a strong second-half performance from Agjanti Miller to secure a 68-58 victory over the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights in the NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball tournament on Sunday at the Playtime Filoil Center in San Juan.
The Filipino-American guard spearheaded the Red Lions with a team-high 22 points, along with five rebounds, four assists, and a steal, as San Beda improved to a 2-0 record.
John Bryan Sajonia also chipped in 11 points, most of which came in the first half, helping the Red Lions notch the win despite the absence of Yukien Andrada.
Trailing 44-45 in the third quarter, San Beda unleashed a scoring run behind Sajonia and Miller to build a 53-45 lead heading into the final period.
The Knights cut the deficit to 58-62 late in the fourth quarter, but two free throws from John Bismark Lina and back-to-back baskets from Miller sealed the deal for the Red Lions.
Jonathan Manalili paced Letran with 13 points, while Deo Cuajao added 10 as the Knights fell to 1-2. (AC)
