Filipino-American singer Jessica Sanchez has advanced to the semi-finals round of “America’s Got Talent” Season 20 after being voted by her fans in the United States.
The results were announced by the show’s host Terry Crews on Thursday (Philippine time), after Jessica delivered a powerful rendition of Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” during the quarterfinals this week.
The singer, who is eight months pregnant, expressed her joy after she was announced as a semi-finalist.
“Oh my gosh, I’m on cloud nine right now. Thank you so much everybody, I appreciate it,” she said.
Judge Simon Cowell told Jessica that there is something special about her, adding, “I would say right now, you’re the one to beat.”
Fellow “AGT” judge Howie Mandel agreed with Simon, saying, “I think you’re amazing, I’m just concerned that at this point in your life that you make it without giving birth.”
Jessica first joined “America’s Got Talent” when she was 10 years old and made it to the semi-finals.
She marked her comeback on the show in July, where she sang Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things.” The performance earned her a golden buzzer from judge Sofia Vergara.
The Golden Buzzer entitles the contestant to advance to the live shows without having to go through any audition rounds.
Jessica rose to fame as the runner-up in “American Idol” Season 11.
