(UPDATE) RAIN or Shine (ROS) boosted its stock just a week after its PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series defeat to TNT after signing up veteran guard and free agent Stanley Pringle to a two-year deal, the team announced on Tuesday via its social media platform.
A four-time PBA champion, the 38-year-old Filipino American guard is joining an ROS side that is itching to get over the hump after four straight semifinal finishes.
Pringle, the top overall pick in the 2014 PBA Rookie Draft, remains a reliable threat as seen in his 13.2 points per game average, along with 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in his Terrafirma stint in the Philippine Cup.
The Dyip’s future though remains uncertain with the Zamboanga Valientes, earlier reported to be in a discussion to purchase the Terrafirma franchise, still not progressing.
With Pringle’s addition to ROS’ backcourt, coach Yeng Guiao now has an experienced guard who can mentor the team’s younger core of Gian Mamuyac, Andrei Caracut, Adrian Nocum and Anton Asistio.
ROS has shown a lot of promise as one of the few independent teams in the pro league.

A seven-time PBA All Star, Pringle, the former Penn State standout, will be playing for his fourth PBA team after starting his pro career with NorthPort, followed by Barangay Ginebra, where he won four league titles, and Terrafirma.
Pringle was actually part of the deal that saw him and Fil-German big man Christian Standhardinger sent by Ginebra to Terrafirma in exchange for Isaac Go and Stephen Holt just days before the 2024 PBA Draft.
