Filipino firm Barchan + Architecture has clinched the top title of Asia’s Best Firm in Architecture Design at the 2025 Asia Architecture Design Awards (AADA), spotlighting its creative leadership in blending cultural heritage with innovative design.
The prestigious AADA, which celebrates architectural excellence, sustainability, and innovation across the continent, also honored Barchan + Architecture with Asia’s Best Commercial Building Architecture Design for its project The Terraces at Dao in Marikina City—a 3,100-square-meter headquarters and warehouse designed for an entertainment equipment rental company.
Inspired by the iconic Banaue Rice Terraces, the building features flowing canopies linking its structures, while its vibrant palette pays tribute to the colorful energy of jeepneys and Filipino fiestas.
Founder Jason Buensalido thanked the AADA panel for recognizing the firm’s culturally rooted approach to design, emphasizing that “this award reflects our deep commitment to creating impactful and sustainable architecture that truly resonates with the spirit of Vibrant Asia.”
He added, “Barchan + Architecture hopes to further contribute to the evolving built environment in the Philippines and in Asia by crafting spaces that help us build a better world.”
A gala night celebrating this year’s winners will take place on July 25 at The Shilla Seoul Hotel in South Korea. Among Barchan + Architecture’s notable past projects are Aqua Boracay, Lyfe Tower in Mandaluyong, and the College of Arts and Technology in Quezon City.
