Lea Salonga proved that she’s a star in her own right by earning her Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Theater actress and singer Lea Salonga is set to receive her Hollywood Walk of Fame star as she was announced as one of the newest honorees for the global honor for 2025-2026.

Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) announced the nomination of Lea on their social media pages for the Live Theatre/Performance category. In their post, the award-giving body shared how “incredibly proud” they were to share the news.

“From Broadway to Disney to the global concert stage, Lea has been a trailblazer and a voice for generations. Her impact on the world of music, theater, and film is undeniable — and her legacy continues to open doors for countless Filipino and Asian artists worldwide,” MIFF wrote in their post.

It added that the said recognition was not just for Lea’s extraordinary talent, but also for everything she represents, which was excellence, integrity, and cultural pride.

“Congratulations and BRAVO, Lea — this moment is so well-deserved, and we are beyond thrilled to celebrate YOU!” the MIFF finished their post.

Lea also celebrated the news on her Instagram stories by sharing a screenshot of the article about the 2025-2026 recipients of the Walk of Fame star, and encircling her name.

“Just now woke up to this bit of amazing news!!! To the Manila International Filmfest, many thanks for nominating me to be part of the class of 2025-26!” she wrote.

Lea is the fourth Filipino and the first Filipina to receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star after half-Filipino comedian and actor Rob Schneider and singer Bruno Mars received theirs. Singer Apl.de.Ap. will be receiving his together with his bandmates, the Black Eyed Peas.

Lea is best known for her groundbreaking role as Kim in “Miss Saigon,” for which she won a Tony, Olivier, and other major theater awards. She also performed in major Broadway and West End productions such as “Les Misérables,” “Flower Drum Song,” “Allegiance,” “Once on This Island” and, most recently, Stephen Sondheim’s “Old Friends.”

Lea also did the singing voice of two Disney princesses, Jasmine from “Aladdin,” and Mulan from “Mulan,” which earned her the title of Disney Legend in 2011.

Other artists who will be joining Lea in the 2025-2026 Walk of Fame class are other big names across various categories, including Emily Blunt, Rachel McAdams, Miley Cyrus, Air Supply, Timothée Chalamet, and Marion Cotillard, among others.
