Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has earned global recognition after being ranked 7th among the World’s Most Improved Airports in the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
The award, presented by UK-based aviation consultancy Skytrax—often called the “Oscars of the aviation industry”—celebrates airports that have shown significant enhancements in infrastructure, services, and passenger experience over the past year. The ranking is based on passenger surveys covering 575 airports worldwide and 25 performance indicators, including terminal facilities, cleanliness, service quality, transport access, and retail offerings.
“This recognition is a testament to our commitment to continuous improvement,” said Athanasios Titonis, CEO of Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation. “It affirms our vision of making MCIA not just a gateway, but a world-class destination in itself.”

Recent upgrades at MCIA include an expanded terminal, faster baggage handling systems, better transport access, and a wider range of retail options that highlight Filipino culture and products. These improvements support the airport’s mission to deliver a seamless and uniquely Cebuano travel experience.
The recognition also reflects Cebu’s growing role as a hub for tourism, business, and investment in the Philippines. As MCIA continues to enhance its facilities, it aims to position itself as the country’s leading transfer and transit hub, connecting domestic and international travelers with greater ease and efficiency.
Earlier this year, MCIA was also named Best Airport in Asia-Pacific (Under 5 Million Passengers) by Airports Council International, reinforcing its standing as one of the region’s top-performing airports.
