KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) recently welcomed Her Excellency Maria Angela A. Ponce, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Malaysia, during an official visit aimed at deepening academic and cultural collaboration.
Ponce was received by UNIMAS Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Professor Dr Siti Noor Linda Taib, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) Professor Dr Fitri Suraya Hapni Joblie, PeTARY director Levas Mejus, and Gui Hun Chuen from the Faculty of Built Environment.
According to UNIMAS Global, the visit was a joint initiative involving UNIMAS Global, PeTARY, the Faculty of Built Environment, and the Philippine Embassy.
“One of the key highlights was the introduction of the proposed Laluan Filipina, a cultural corner envisioned to celebrate the Philippines’ rich heritage, arts, and enduring friendship with Malaysia.
“A conceptual design for Laluan Filipina was presented by UNIMAS alumnus Joshua Brandah, offering a visual interpretation of how the space could serve as a hub for cultural learning and engagement on campus,” it said in a press release today (June 24).
Ponce was accompanied by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Patricia Anne Laggui and Cultural Attaché Jesher Micha Carolino.
