9th October 2025 – (Hong Kong) A disturbing home invasion unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday at Tsz Lok Estate’s Lok Tin House, where four assailants forced their way into a residential unit and stole mobile telephones valued at approximately HK$2,650 from a non-ethnic Chinese mother and her son.
Police investigations have revealed an unusual motive behind the incident, stemming from a debt-related coercion. According to law enforcement sources, the male head of the targeted household had previously been acknowledged as a “big brother” mentor by a non-ethnic Chinese man with suspected triad connections. This associate, who reportedly maintained a positive relationship with the family without any existing disputes or financial obligations, had allegedly accumulated debts to another individual.
The creditor subsequently compelled the associate to lead several perpetrators to his mentor’s Tsz Wan Shan residence. At approximately 5:00 AM, the group successfully gained entry through the property’s metal gate and damaged wooden door.
The disturbance awakened the family’s 15-year-old son of Pakistani descent, who attempted to contact emergency services before two assailants brandished knives and confiscated his mobile device. The intruders proceeded to a bedroom where they seized a second telephone from the 59-year-old Filipino mother before fleeing the premises.
Through closed-circuit television review and automated licence plate recognition technology, authorities tracked suspects to a seven-seater vehicle in Mong Kok’s Sai Yee Street. The West Kowloon Regional Police Force intercepted the vehicle, detaining seven Chinese males aged between 29 and 54 years.
Among those apprehended were the two primary suspects, aged 29 and 35, directly involved in the residential robbery. Police confiscated 16 tablets of suspected medication and a 50-centimetre plastic ruler during the operation. The remaining five detainees are not believed to have participated in the initial invasion.
The case has been transferred to the Wong Tai Sin District Anti-Triad Unit for further investigation, with authorities continuing their search for two outstanding suspects and the coerced associate who facilitated the targeting of his mentor’s family.
